Mahindra to Launch Jawa 350 Bike to Rival Royal Enfield

Mahindra is going to bring the Mahindra Jawa Motorcycle in India. Mahindra Jawa 350 is expected to compete with mid-size cruiser Royal Enfield that is already an established brand in India. Jawa is a Czech motorcycle brand and was based in Mysore in India in 1960’s. However, Jawa wound up the business in 1996 due to low demand. Now Mahindra has obtained the license to sell Jawa bikes in India and it may showcase Jawa 350 in the Auto Expo 2018. The motorcycle may lock horns with the Royal Enfield in the 350 cc segment.
Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra has recently confirmed the launch details of Mahindra Jawa motorcycle in India. He confirmed the launch of Jawa by the end of financial year in a recent interview with Moneycontrol. Jawa still has a cult following in India and would try to harness the same with the launch of its new 350 cc motorcycle. Royal Enfield classic 350 is expected to give Jawa a tough competition as it is the highest selling bike in the 350 cc segment.

All you need to know about Royal Enfield rival Jawa 350

The retro style motorcycle Jawa was revealed in early 2017 and is already launched in selected international markets. The first motorcycle to be launched in India could be Mahindra Jawa 350. The motorcycle Jawa 350 will be sold in India under the same brand name Jawa and will not bear Mahindra brand.
Jawa will have a 350 cc engine that will produce a maximum power of 26 BHP and peak torque of 32 Nm. Unlike the Royal Enfield which has a 5-speed gearbox, Jawa 350 will have a 4-speed gearbox. However, its rival Royal Enfield with the same engine capacity produces a power of 20bhp and 28 Nm torque. Maybe Mahindra takes a note of this and launch Jawa 350 with 5-speed gearbox and ABS.

Will Jawa 350 be able to beat Royal Enfield?

Royal Enfield has already captured 90 percent of the 350 cc segment cruiser motorcycle market in India. Looking at the peak power, torque and safety features like ABS, Mahindra Jawa 350 is expected to beat Royal Enfield.  Jawa 350 is expected to be launched at a price of 1.5 lakh which is a little expensive than its rival Royal Enfield. If we consider the brand image and brand loyalty then power and features don’t matter for Indian customers but price and mileage definitely matters.
